Insgesamt wurden in Deutschland im vergangenen Jahr 2,84 Millionen Pkw neu zugelassen. Alternativ angetriebene Pkw hatten mit 1,38 Millionen Fahrzeugen einen Anteil von 48,5 Prozent am Neuwagenmarkt (2022: 49,6 Prozent). Als „alternativ angetriebene Pkw“ definiert das Kraftfahrt-Bundesamtes (KBA) Fahrzeuge mit den Antriebsarten Elektro (BEV), Brennstoffzelle (Wasserstoff), Hybrid (einschließlich Plug-in-Hybrid), Gas (Flüssig- und Erdgas) und Wasserstoff.
